Dear FLHS student,
Hello, my name is Minjun Song, a first grader at Sangsan High school. I'm very excited to have a new pen pal friend in America! I’m 17 years old in Korean age, and the subject I prefer most in school is biology. I am studying to become a biologist. What do you want to be in the future?
I would like to share some information about my school. My school, Sangsan High School is located far from home, in a city called Jeonju. I live in a dormitory, so I'm currently separated from my family. I think it's a better option for studying because I don't have to do chores here (and of course no scolding). Still, I call them frequently talking about what happened today to keep in touch with them. Unlike other high schools, Sangsan High School is a private school where a great number of Korean students want to apply for. Our friends are here for deeper education and are very satisfied with our many school programs. We have many programs like guest lectures, self-in-depth research, many contests, and much more! my personal favorite is self-in-depth research since I can do projects about whatever I like. What school programs do you have and which one do you like?
The next thing I want to talk about is my daily schedule. I usually wake up at 6:30 for a roll call. After having a quick shower, I have breakfast. Our school starts at 8:10, so after I finish breakfast, I arrive at school and study for a few minutes in class. Our school has 8 periods, each of them running for 50 minutes. One thing I like most about our school is that it has a longer lunchtime than others. While other schools have 50 ~ 60 minutes for lunch, we have 80 mins! During that long time, we can do more activities during the day or study. After school, most students living in the dorm(including me) have to participate in evening "self-study" sessions after school, where we're monitored by teachers. It is the time when we can organize what we learned that day. When and where do you study? I’ve seen kids in rural areas study in their houses and run out to play after finishing homework (from movies). Is it the same for NY students? I’d like to know.
I would also like to share my hobbies. I usually liked watching movies the most, but since I am in a dorm and have lots of studying to do, my hobby changed to listening to music. My favorite artists are Plum and Charlie Puth. Plum is an underrated Korean composer who writes many good songs. Because he makes many songs with various instruments and different impressions, I have many playlists of his songs and choose which one to listen to while studying. One thing I admire most is his consistency. While it is hard for me to even finish a project, he makes the best songs every week without exception. This always motivates me to try my best in my studies. Also, I am a big fan of Charlie Puth. He is undoubtedly one of the most talented musicians around the globe. I have been following him since middle school, and his songs helped me go through hard times. I am high-key excited for his next album in September! I recommend you to listen to both of their songs, and I'll leave a link for their channels(The last one is my favorite song ). You'll love it! What is your favorite hobby?

When I finish studying, one thing on my list is to visit America. Where would you recommend visiting there?
I am really looking forward to having more letters with you and learning more about America, so I'll post my email below. I hope we can have more conversations!
Sincerely yours, Minjun
