   Dear Duchesne Academy Omaha students, Hi! I’m SeoYoung and I’m a student at SangSan High School. I’m 16 years old! I want to tell you about my daily life in SangSan High School. I usually wake up at 6 in dorm. At first, I was little awkward to stay away from my family, but now I prefer dorm than my home. A great number of students stay in the dormitory, because most of the students are from different city. Our first class starts at 8:10 am, and our last class ends at 5:10 pm. After class, l study at school until 9:20pm, study at dorm until 11:20pm. When it’s midnight, we have to turn off the light and go to sleep. There are times when it is hard to study for a long time every day, but it’s also fun to study with my friends. My school is in Jeonju. It’s one of the few private high schools outside of Seoul. Our school is huge so if you visit Jeonju, I recommend you to look around our school. Also, I’m a big fan or my school uniform, especially winter uniforms. I like my winter uniforms because my winter uniforms are blue, which is my favorite color! What does your school uniform look like? My school has things that symbolize our school. First is elephant. My school emblem is modeled after an elephant. ‘Sang’ from ‘SangSan’ also means elephant. Second is pinetree. There are so many kinds of flowers and trees here, especially pine trees. Lastly, carp. The principal likes carp, so there are ponds for carp at the back of the school. There is a story that’s been passed down that if you see a carp pop up, you can go to a good university. My name is Penelope, but everyone calls me Penny! I am 14 years old and in my first year of high school, but in the United States there are 4 years of high school instead of three. For my school day I have to get to school at 7 on Tuesdays and Thursdays and 8:30 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. We live about 30 minutes away from school so I have to get up around 6:15 or 7:15 on some days too get there on time. I don’t live in a dorm at school because my high school doesn’t offer it but I really wish it did! Our school day is shorter than yours and starts at 8:45 and ends at 3:30, then we can go home and do the homework we have for that day, but there really isn’t a specific amount of time that we are required to study for. My school is in Omaha, Nebraska which probably isn’t the most well known state there is, but it is exactly in the middle of the United States. We have the same uniform all school year. It is a red and gray plaid skirt and a white shirt. You can wear pants if you want to but most everyone wears skirts because it is an all girl school. Our schools mascot is a cardinal but our main logo is the sacred heart. I am sure there are some interesting stories with my school but I just started going there this year, so I don’t really know any.
My school building looks like a castle, it is giant and made completely out of bricks. There are 4 floors not including ground floor, the gym, and the performing arts center. I think that is pretty big but I don’t know if your school is bigger or not. My old school only had two floors, so my new school is much bigger. Omaha, Nebraska is a very nice state. It has different weather in all different seasons, it can get very hot or very cold and snows in the winter and rains any time in the year. There is nothing really interesting about Nebraska like there is about other states. Some states have mountains or beaches but we just have a lot of corn fields. If you ever visit the United States, Colorado is my favorite state because it has a lot of cute towns, wildlife, lakes and mountains… but Nebraska is nice too.
I have one sister named Sophia who is 16 years old and is in her second year at school. I also have a dog, a hamster, and two tortoises! As you can probably tell I love animals! My favorite animal is a stingray or a bumblebee. What is your favorite animal? Do you have any pets or siblings? I do dance, mostly ballet and I have pointe shoes, I do dance every night except for Fridays, I love it sooo much. But I love most every sports. Do you do any sports?

How have you been?
I read your letter, and it was very interesting!
I have an older brother and I am 20 years old. My brother was born in America.
I don’t raise any animals, but if I do, I want to raise a dog.
And I love sports too. These days, I go to soccer club and a netball club at school and work out hard.
When I become an adult, I will visit Nebraska with my friends.
