Dear American High School Student, Hi. My name is Donghyeon Kim, and I am 16 years old. I'm a first-year student at Sangsan High School in Korea. I am 177cm tall and a little skinny. I am very positive and cheerful. When I entered high school, I took a personality test. The personality test that I had taken at school this year showed that I am one of the happiest students in my school. I think that my biggest strength is that I am optimistic and do not get stressed out easily. What kind of personality do you have? I hope you have a personality that goes well with me.
I live in the school dormitory. Our school is where students from all over the country apply, so most of the students are living in dormitories. Do I miss my parents? Of course, I do. I still enjoy living with my friends, and I am not lonely because I am in contact with my parents daily. What I like the most is school lunch! It is very delicious. So I guess I like this school more ^^
I'll tell you my daily routine. The dorm bell rings at 6:30 in the morning. I get up then, get ready and go to school by 7:50. I usually take eight classes and finish at 5:10 pm. After eating dinner and studying, I go to bed at midnight. Korean high school students like me study hard all day to get into good colleges.
There are hard times, but many fun activities and classes at school. In particular, our school has a Taekwondo class. Taekwondo is a traditional Korean sparring sport that has also been adopted as an Olympic sport. It is great exercise to train our mind and protect ourselves from danger. It gives us a level playing field in that two players compete with their bare hands and feet without any ball, shoes, or equipment. I like Taekwondo very much because it makes my body and soul feel healthy when I do it. What's your favorite sport? If you plan to learn a sport, I would recommend Taekwondo to you.
I'm a big fan of the Marvel Avengers movie series. I like them so much that I have seen them over and over again since I was a kid. Avengers movie series are very popular not only in the U.S. but also in Korea. A great number of Korean students like Avengers movies. I prefer the Thanos character to the other main characters in the Avengers series. Thanos is the greatest villain, but he is strong enough to fight against all the Avengers team up. I think such powerful villains can make the movies tenser and more fun. Which character do you like the most in the Avengers series?
I have never met you, but while writing this letter, I feel like we have already become close friends. Although we live in different countries, I wish we could continue to keep in touch by email. What do you think about being in constant contact with each other by email or letter?
