Dear American High School Student,

Hello, my friend, my name is Subin and I’m a first-grade student (17 years old) at Sangsan high school. I’m high-key excited about writing a letter to you! In Korea, the weather is getting colder. How’s the weather in America?

I want to tell you about my life as a student in South Korea. In our school, a great number of students stay in a dormitory. But not all students in South Korea live there. Normally, students go to school from their homes. I wake up at 6:00 am. While the morning call rings at 6:30 am, I wake up early to wash in the morning. Sometimes I wake at 5:00 am to study a subject that is lacking. What’s your favorite subject? I prefer studying Korean history. Because I first studied history with funny comic books when I was young, this subject gave me a good impression.

In Korea, winter is coming. I like all the seasons, but winter is the best. Because in winter, Christmas is awaiting us! I like Christmas songs, movies, and. . . I love all about Christmas. In Korea, people don’t enjoy Christmas as in America. So I’m so jealous of America’s Christmas mood! In my imagination, in America, people exchange gifts under the Christmas tree with Christmas food and music. Is it true? I want to know about America’s Christmas!

At age 17, we are slowly becoming adults. I have many difficulties because I left home and lived in the school. I think you have several worries too. Let's endure a wonderful student life together! I’ll be rooting for you.

Christmas in America is basically what you think it's like, it honestly just depends on the family. Everyone has their own traditions, my familys tradition is to wake up open presents uder the tree, eat breakfast, and binge watch Christmas movies. What is your favorite Christmas movie? Mine is probably Home Alone. We like to spend Christmas just as a family, usually we have other family members come and eat with us aswell.

My daily life in America for me is usually waking up around 7:30 in the morning, it takes me about 10-20 minutes to get ready. It really just depends if I feel like getting cute that day. I eat breakfast which is usually just cereal, or a bagel. I drive to school. It takes me around 20 minutes to get across town with all the traffic we have in the mornings. School starts at 8:10 am to 3:00 pm daily, except on Tuesdays we get out at 2:00 pm. There's 7 class periods of the day, and my schedule contains Human behavior, Learning Center, Take Charge,Geomatry, Oral Communication Sociology, English (the class I'm in now), and finally Cullinary. What's your class schedule look like?

When I get out of school I usually go home and try to do some homework, or if I have to go to work I try to get ready as fast as I can because usually they schedule me around 3:30. When i dont go to work I just try to relax as much as I can. Do you have a job? I work at Fazolis its a italian restaurant, if you ever vist America i would highly recommend eating there!!!

Hi Summer! I think your name is very pretty too. My favorite season and my birthday are both summers. I wish Summer would come and go to the beach. I'm living near the sea. It’s pretty cool! (And in my picture, the right one is me!)

I’m just in the first grade of the Sangsan Highschool and we graduate when we become third grade. I want to be a doctor. And that’s why I study hard and make the effort for learning.

Thank you for telling your family’s Christmas! I usually make a Christmas tree and watch a movie too. My favorite Christmas movie is “Grinch”. It is a very beautiful story! Also, I like the Christmas song whitch is “Christmas without you”.

It sounds so cool that you can drive and work. In South Korea, those under the age of 18 can’t obtain a driver’s license. And we usually just study for the test, and we don’t have a job else. I think it’s a cultural difference.
