Dear American High School Student, Hi! My name is Seoyoung and I am a first-year student at Sangsan High School. My MBTI is ENFJ. How about you? I'm a vocalist in a band club called Wendy in my school. I'm already nervous because I'm performing at the school festival in November. Do you guys have clubs in America too? What club are you in? Let me introduce Sangsan High School. Our school has excellent students who came from all over the various regions. I like the mood of the class because I have friends who study hard and are passionate about everything. Most of the students live in dorms because they live far away. Also, our school is famous for its pretty campus. The school campus is very wide and there are great number of beautiful trees and flowers. And carp live in the pond. I'm curious about your school. Please introduce your school, too. I want to tell you about my daily life in Sangsan High School. I usually wake up at 6:30 because morning call rings at that time. But I wake up at 5:30 to study when the test approaches.. Our first class starts at 8:10 am and the last class ends at 5:10 pm. After dinner, we have night study class from 6:30 pm to 9:20 pm. And there is also a dormitory study from 10 pm to 11:20 pm. You might think that our school students only study every day. But I do many fun activities such as talking with my friends and doing exercise during the break. How about you? What is your daily life? Actually, I studied in Canada when I was in elementary school, so I know what kind of activities you do in American schools.. But I don't know well about the high school life... Let me know about your daily routine in your school!! Are you interested in Korea? Korea is famous for K- dramas and K-pop. Is there any Korean drama you enjoyed watching? If not, I recommend watching a Korean drama. (My favorite is Our beloved summer.) Also, please let me know if you are interested in K-pop singers. I high-key like K-pop that there are few singers and songs I don't know. I'm a big fan of TOMORROW X TOGETHER. (Actually, I can't choose my favorite artist because there are many K-pop singers I like..lol) I hope you are interested in K-pop, too. These days, I have to get ready for the midterm test. I want to finish the test and play with my friends. I'm so curious about you. I look forward to reading your response soon! Best, Seoyoung

Letter Number: 10609 Dear Seoyoung, Hey! My name is Olivia Schartz. I am a Freshman (9th Grade) at Duchesne Academy. I enjoy a lot of sports that Duchesne provides, including Softball and Soccer. At my school we have clubs and I’m currently in Operation Others, a club that joins different high schools to do service projects. Other then that, I don’t do other clubs. At Duchesne, we are an all girls school that focuses on sisterhood and the relationships between each other. With that we focus on our religion too. My daily life at school consists of Monday having all 8 classes, then for Tuesday/Thursday I have my odd block scheduled classes, and lastly I then have Wednesday/Friday even blocked classes. Everyday school starts at 8:45 and classes end at 3:00 or 3:30 pm. Playing softball means that I have practice everyday, unless its game day, for 2 hours (4:00-6:00pm). After that, I go home and do the homework assigned. Sometime my brother, I have twin brother, will have me help him with homework or practice a sport with him. It’s good bonding. Not everyday is the same but it’s the basic schedule. I’ve heard of K-pop and K-dramas, but I’ve never seen “Our Beloved Summer.” It is on Netflix so I’ll have to watch it, thank you for the recommendation! I personally love romance/coming of age movies/ tv shows. (I recommend Clueless, Sixteen Candles, Footloose, Mean Girls. There classic teen drama movies.) I have some questions: - Do you get breaks off of school? If so, what do you do during break? - What is your favorite class you’re currently taking? Or Is there a class you wish you could take? - Do you miss seeing your family? Do you get to see them due to being at a boarding school? All the best, Olivia Schartz A’26

Hi! How are you doing? I'm so glad to recieve your letter. To answer your questions, I usually draw some pictures and play the piano during the break. But Korean high school students can't do many hobbies because they have to study, so neither do I. Nevertheless, whenever I have time, I try to do things that I like to relieve stress. If you are curious about my drawing, look for @sderoayw on Instagram. I'm a little bit shy.. but I hope you to look at my drawings!
Next, my favorite subject is science. When I learn new principle or concept, the process of solving a problem by applying it is so interesting. In Korea, we learn physics, biology, chemistry, and earth science briefly in first grade. In second grade, we can choose subjects to learn, and I’ll learn physics, biology, and chemistry. I look forward to taking those classes. How about you? What is your favorite subject? I also wonder curriculum of your school.
Lastly, I miss my family soooo much. Actually, at first, it was hard to adjust, but now the dorm is comfortable like home..lol. I go home every two or three weeks and spend time with my family. But I can't go home these days because I'm preparing a band performance for the school festival.
Have you ever been to Korea? I’ve been to America when I lived in Vancouver. I want to go to school again in America or Canada later, if I have a chance. And please tell me about American culture such as the language that teenagers often use or their hobbies. I’ll let you know if you have any question about me!
Best,
Seoyoung.
(P.S. Oh! Thank you for your movie recommendation. I'll make sure to watch it later. And my English name is Jesse. You can call me Jesse or Seoyoung, do whatever you want!)

Hey! It's so good hearing from you! I'm doing well, a little stressed about the essay I have to write. The essay is easy but just takes a lot of time. I saw you Instagram, your drawing are AMAZING! They are beautifully constructed! I love science too, but my heart honestly belongs with math or literature. The way math is strictly right or wrong answers and there are strict processes and formulas to follow. It make me, a person who is huge on structure, happy. But I also love literature. They way I can connect with characters in books completes the effect of a book. As in levels/types of classes, for math I take Algebra I as a freshman, for science I take Biology as a freshman. Besides that, I am glad you get to see your family! I would get so homesick if I boarded. Good luck at your performance!
I have never been to Korea, but I do have a dream of traveling! Korea is a place on my list. If you are thinking about going to school in America or Canada, I definitely think you should! Before I graduate, which will be four years, I want to do the exchange program the Duchesne has to offer. It is where I go to another Sacred Heart school in a different country and study there for a quarter of the school year. I think it is important to experience a culture that I haven't grown up with.
I don't know completely how adults talk, but I do know that with my friends we talk with a lot of phrases. Example are like OMG (oh my god), LOL (laugh out loud), WYD (what you doing), FYI (for your information), LMK (let me know), IDK (I don't know), etc. It's very informal when my friends and I talk or text. For hobbies, there are so many. A few are: sports, art, performing arts, DIY (do it yourself) crafts, etc. I don't have any particular thing I do, it honestly depends on what I'm in the mood for. Please tell me about Korean culture, like how you talk with you friends or what you do with your friends.
I watch "Our Beloved Summer" by the way. I loved it! Thank you so much for the recommendation.
Questions: - What is the most thing you struggle with? It could be relationships, school, etc. - What is your favorite animal? Do you have a pet? - What is the one place you dream to visit?
All the best, Olivia Schartz A'26
