Dear American High School student, Hi, I'm Sion Park. It's my pleasure to write a letter to you. I’m 16years old. My school is Sangsan high school and I live in the school dormitory now. Living in a school dormitory sounds cool but sometimes it’s a little hard for me. Because one of my roommates snores every night (we use one room with 4,5 friends. It's too small for us!!). So I have to go to bed early. But going to bed early means getting up early. So I’m fine and satisfied with that. While my school is in Jeonju, my family lives in Yeosu, a southern coastal city. Yeosu is famous for its sea, so I used to go to the port to see the sea in the evening. Whenever I see an evening glow, my home comes to mind. As a great number of students came from different regions, I can know interesting information about various regions of Korea. Do you have a sport you like watching and playing? I’ve been a big fan of Arsenal (English football club) for five years and I will always support them. Every Friday morning, I play football with my friends(That is the only time that I can play football) They are second to none in the league now. I hope they win the league. In my school, I like biology and ethics the most. Because of the Korean society, I study biology to achieve the goal of entering medical college. But My dream was to research different species of whales in Canada. The Nature which gives life to animals around the world is always amazing!! The reason I like ethics is I’m interested in many social issues and I like Michael Sandel, a professor who published “Justice: What’s the Right Thing to Do”, with his courage to think outside of the box. Now I will introduce my daily life. Every morning I wake up at 6:00 and take a wash. Then I go to eat breakfast. I always eat cereal and sometimes eat corn for breakfast. My classes start at 8:00 and end at 5:10. When All classes are finished, I go to have dinner or go outside to eat other different food(pizza, burger ,etc...). After having lunch, I study more til 9:20. we call it 야자(yaja), the evening self-study. When I finish my study, I walk on the playground alone or with my friends. Night winds make me sentimental, so I sometimes count stars...and look at Mars, Jupiter and Moon... Then I go to the school library to study. At 11:20, When I back to my dorm, I take a shower and slept. Sadly, that’s all. But I feel achievement everyday night. I’ve only been to japan twenty times(because of My parents...). I haven't been to America. When I become twenty, I’d like to travel to America and I want to meet Professor Sandel(in lecture or by chance??). Professor Sandel published a book I like most now. Then, What is your best book? I will wait for your response. Best, Sion (My school) (My hometown)

Dear Korean High School Student,
Hello Sion Park My name is Madison Grant. I appreciate you writing a letter to me, and I am overjoyed to be responding back. I loved reading your letter. Your culture is very fascinating to me being that it's so different from mine. I reside on an island off the coast of New York known as Long Island. It has a lot of scenic areas that are good for taking photos, being that the whole island is surrounded by water. I live at home with my family and my school is only a few blocks away. I face the same problem you have in your dormitory. My parents snore really loud. I hear them when I'm in the living room making breakfast, before even getting to school. I used to share my room with my older sister until I got older. I go to bed pretty late because I enjoy traveling the island with my siblings, doing silly things. We often discover beautiful places to watch the water being that it is so calm and peaceful. Nature makes me happy. The way you talk about Yeosu makes me wanna add it to the places i would love to visit. I do have sports that I admire whether I’m watching them or engaging in them myself. One sport I love to watch would have to be hockey. My favorite team by far has been The Islanders. Two sports I have come to love playing would be volleyball as well as Track and Field. I have come so far in both the sports after only playing for 4 years. I even almost made it to this event we call “States” in the U.S. I used to play soccer when I was younger. I played the goalkeeper position. I wanted to be just as good as my sister. Found out a year later soccer wasn't for me. Biology is very interesting. The other day I learned that sometimes the human brain is more active when you're sleeping than when you're awake doing stuff. Many of my friends are interested in the medical field. I find it pretty cool. My sister is an EMT. I give her tons of respect that takes a lot of work. When I'm done with school I plan on studying physical education and playing track. During the 3 years of school I would love to take the Suffolk police test. They give them out every year and you have to be at least 18, which I'm not, sadly. I have a strong passion for law enforcement.
I will do the same as you and introduce my daily life as well. Every morning I wake up around 6:30 am, then I brush my teeth and have a glass of water with honey. After I wash my dishes that I used, I would make my way to the garage and run/ jog on the treadmill for 30 mins. Then when that's done I stretch and go take a shower and get ready for school. I go to school at 8:40 then when all my classes end i go home. Have a snack then practice for my track season so I'm not rusty. When I'm done with that, I start doing my homework then I eat dinner. After that I would brush my teeth and get prepared to go on a midnight adventure. The adventure normally would end around 2 am.
I would love to visit other countries to go hiking but my limit is America currently. In the future I would love to visit your hometown. I don't have a favorite book, I don't really read books out of school, it's not as interesting as other things I do. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely, Madison

Dear friend Madison Grant(매디슨그란트 in Korean) Thank you for your letter. The answer that you like to watch the water is interesting because I love watching the water too! As I reside on the peninsula and my grandparents reside on an island(Jeju), I used to go to see the water after school and when I visited my grandparents' house. Watching the water always encourages me and gives me a solution to me. Recently, I read a play titled “The Three Most Important Things in Life. I think finding what to do rather than what to be is the most important thing in life. What do you think is most important in your life? When you come to Korea I recommend you visit Busan. Although my hometown is a good city, Busan has a lot of things to watch. If you have a chance to come to Asia, There are many famous coastal cities such as Tokyo, Hongkong, and Shanghai. They are all in Asia, but they have each color. If I have a chance to visit the US. I want to go both east and west. I want to take photos in Southern California beach and Long beach in Newyork. Something I'm curious about your life is what would you do next 10 years. I want to be an emeregency doctor then I want to work in my hometown and work for my citizens.I wish you good luck and be happy! Thank you
Sincerely, Sion
