Dear FLHS friend Annyeong! (It means hello in Korean, and I recommend using this word the next time you meet a Korean friend.) I'm glad to be able to share our daily life by exchanging letters with you. My name is Junsang, and I am 17 years old. A great number of my friends prefer to call me Junsik than to call me Junsang. And I am a student at Sangsan High School in Jeonju, Korea. I know you are a student at Francis Lewis High School. How is your school life? I live in the dormitory of Sangsan High School. So we have to wake up at 6:30 every day, but I usually wake up at 7 — we call it re-sleep. I sometimes get up at 7:30, and then I'm hungry during the morning work because I don't have time for breakfast. So we often go to a convenience store inside the school. After a simple breakfast like this, lunchtime (12:00) and dinner time (17:00) approach. We have to eat lunch in the lunchroom in school, but if the meal isn't so tasty, we go to the convenience store again. I think the convenience store is the second-happiest place in our school. And for me, the happiest place in our school is the playground. After dinner, I have to do yaja — night self-study, which is really tired and hard. However, after this time has passed, chatting with friends and walking around the playground is so excited that it give life to the reason of my school life. Do you know Taekwondo? You can say that the most famous K-pop singer is BTS, and the most famous foods in Korea is kimchi, the most famous martial art in Korea is Taekwondo. All students at our school must learn Taekwondo and have a 1st-degree black belt in the first year of high school (10th grade). If you search Taekwondo on YouTube, you will be a big fan of Taekwondo. We can choose from a variety of subjects in second year of high school (11th grade). I like math, especially discrete mathematics, so I'm going to take a variety of math courses like calculus, geometry, probability and statistics next year. Unfortunately, there are no AP courses in our school, so it is difficult to learn more difficult math, but I want to study math hard and make my theorem. I have fantasies about the hobbies of American students. Because In American teenager movie, high school students go to various parties every day, like Halloween, Christmas, and dance parties. Do you also have fantasies about these hobbies for our Korean students? In my case, my hobby is listening to songs. Listening to electronic music and moving body to the beat is high-key exciting. The sooner Covid-19 ends, the better. If so, I will meet you in person. What do you want to do when Covid-19 is end?Sincerely<!--/data/user/0/com.samsung.android.app.notes/files/clipdata/clipdata_bodytext_220928_220941_284.sdocx-->

Hello! My name is Colton Willmott, and I am a sophomore (10th grader) at Arlington Highschool. I am 15 years old, and I can't wait to share my life with you! My school life is pretty good, and I have a few good friends that I spend most of my time with. Unlike in Korea, we live with our parents at home in America. I wake up at 7:00 A.M., and my father drives me to school at 7:45 every morning (around a 4 minute drive). School starts at 8:05, and I have graphic arts first period. I have 4 periods after that, and lunch is at 11:40. I have 4 more periods following lunch, and then football starts at 4:00 P.M. I am the kicker on the football team. After football practice, I usually spend time with my girlfriend or my family. Some days, I go hit baseballs. Baseball is one of my favorite things to do in my spare time! When I was younger, I desperately wanted to do Taekwondo, but my parents wouldn't let me. I think it is so cool how every student has to learn taekwondo in Korea! The most popular sport in America is probably football, but baseball and basketball are up there as well. I like to listen to music a lot. Some of my favorite artists are probably Frank Ocean, and Post Malone. The most popular food in America is most definitely pizza. My favorite subject in school is probably history. I like learning about the past and how it has effected the future. I also like english and learning about our language. My mother is a teacher, so she makes me study english pretty frequently. In my head, I always imagined Korea to be pretty much like America in most aspects. I was very wrong! I think it is very cool that you guys live in dorms! The movies don't portray us very accurately, as I don't really attend parties. I like to go hit baseballs with my friends or my girlfriend, and I like throwing footballs around with my father. Do you have Instagram or Snapchat? I would really like to be able to stay in touch with you! My instagram is as follows: royals0403 and my snapchat is: cwillmott98. I would really like to be able to text you, so I can be friends with you in the future, and learn more about you and your life! When covid ends, I would like to travel around the world, maybe even to Korea! Sincerely, Colton Willmott (the picture included is of me and my girlfriend.)

Thank you for replying to my latter! Unfortunately, all high school students in Korea do not live in dormitories and do not learn Taekwondo. Our students come from various regions of Korea to pursue a more diverse and in-depth study. I am from Seoul, the capital of South Korea. It often takes three hours to get to school from home. I would really like to be able to stay in touch with you, too. But I don't do Instagram or Snapchat yet. For the time being, how about contacting us here on the penpal site? I promise to meet you in the future, Sincerely
