Dear American high school student,



  Hello, my name is Eun Hye In. I am a freshman in Sangsan High School. In Korean, the meaning of my name means ‘a person who receives Grace’, and ‘a person who gives Grace’. It means to be a wonderful person for the world. I am very proud of this name that my parents gave me with all their heart. I wonder what your name is. Do you have a story about your name like me? There is a saying that people become like their own name. So I try to live hard like my name.



  Actually, I am an ordinary high school student in Korea. Today, I'm going to tell you about the daily routine of a high school student in Korea. A great number of students in our school live in dormitories. But I go to school at my house near the school. My friends envy me a lot about this. The reason is that friends can't go often because their house is in Seoul or far away.



  I have a lot of morning sleep, so it's really hard to get up early. I am an 'evening person' who has to study until late in the evening and sleep well until morning. How about you? I have to set three alarms every 10 minutes in the morning to barely wake up. If I wake up at 7 and leave home in 10 minutes, I can arrive at school at 7:20. Our school is located high enough to have to climb from the main gate. If I go up for a long time, I can see the classroom building, but the classroom is also on the third floor, so I have to go up again. Anyway, this is a kind of morning exercise, and I think it improves my health. Where is your school located?



  I study in the morning until 8:10. I usually study English. Sometimes I envy people who speak English as their first language. They can get 100 points without studying English. Our school usually has 8 classes from 8:10 am to 5:10 pm. A class is 50 minutes each and a break is 10 minutes each. How many hours is your regular class?



  Our school is famous for being very good at studying. Perhaps the reason is that students have a lot of study time. My friends and I usually make use of I-pad on studying. Also, I eat dinner after regular classes and then do a night study again (we call it 'Ya-ja') for three hours, and I get home around 9:30 pm. However, my friends study in the dormitory library for 2 more hours and then go to the dormitory and sleep. All the students in our school are excellent and study hard. Maybe there are friends who study more at night. I also study a little more at home and quickly fall into a deep sleep. How many hours do you study a day at most? I think it's a happy journey and worthwhile to invest our time generously to achieve our dream. How are you planning your time and trying to achieve your dream?



  But I don't always study for exams. I also do club activities for my career. I high-key like math, so I am participating in a math club. I like to analyze mathematically and think logically. In particular, I think statistics, probabilities, and Big-data are essential for the development of future medicine. Which subject do you like? What other club are you in?



  My future dream is to be a ‘warm-hearted Doctor’ who helps people. Don't you think it's a job that goes well with my name, which means ‘a person who gives Grace’? I have to study and explore a lot to achieve my dream, but I am excited just to think that the process will be very fun and meaningful. What do you want to be in the future? If we meet later, we will be able to reminisce about the conversation we had today.



  I recommend you to come to our school. I think it would be fun if you come to my school once and I go to your school once. It would be exciting to know the cultures of different countries. My friends will welcome you enthusiastically and offer to guide you to school. It's a pleasant thing to think about. Although the world is all difficult due to the COVID-19 incident, let's always live bravely with courage and positive mind. My motto is, "The end is always a happy ending!"
