Dear American High School Student,
Hi, I'm Gyubeen and I am a 16 years old first grader in Sangsan High school in South Korea. I would like to tell you about my daily life here.
In the morning, I get up about 6:30 since the morning bell rings at that time. And I get ready for 7:00 and have breakfast in the cafeteria near the dormitory. Then I go to class, which starts at 8:10. School ends at 5:10, but we keep studying after that because we have self-studying time. We both have lunch and dinner, and there are two options, Western and Korean. I usually prefer the Korean dishes. Have you ever eaten Korean dishes? If you haven’t, I would recommend Bibimbap for your first try. And if you have already tried Korean food, I want to hear how was it!
We do have a great number of student clubs, and I’m also in one of them. We’re called POST, full of students who enjoy science. We do science experiments together on our own. Also, a special thing about our school is that we have a class for Taekwondo, a Korean traditional sport. It’s really fun to learn Taekwondo in school, and we actually gets qualification by the end of year. What's your favorite thing about your school? Do you have anything special about your school’’s curriculum?
Also, I would like to talk about Korea’s national standard test, Suneung. Both interesting and unfortunate thing about it is that it is taken only once in a year. So the one day decides my whole college direction. Of course we can take it any more if we want, but since it’s after a year, it’s not easy to try without hesitation. I know the ACT or SAT are quite different from our’s, so I high-key want to hear specific information about them and what you think about it!
I wish I could hear your answer soon!
P.S. I added a picture of the pink sky seen from our school.
