Dear American High School Student,
Hi! I’m Seongun Jeong and I’m a freshman in Sangsan High School. I’m 17 years old in Korean age and 16 in American. I’m writing this letter to inform you about Korean High School and looking forward to knowing you and your school life(My English might not be so good).
Our school is a little different from ordinary high school in Korea. Most Korean high schools are tuition-free and the education is provided to everyone. Also they aren’t boarding schools. They don’t have dormitories, and students usually go to school by bus, bicycle, or just walk. However our school is a private school, requires tuition and has a dormitory. My home is far from this school so I live in the dorm. I would prefer living home but, anyway
We(my fellow friends and I) usually get up at 6:30A.M. and go to school by 7:55A.M. We have 8 periods every day and each period is 50 minutes long. There is a ten minutes break time between all periods. The school ends at 5:10P.M., and there is “evening-self-study-time” after school till 11:20P.M.(It’s autonomous by name, but it’s actually an obligation). We sleep at 00:00A.M. This schedule makes us low-key everyday. (Many Korean students spend a lot of time studying because of ‘suneung’ - something like Korean SAT but only one time a year)Can you tell me about your school? And what do you usually do after school?
My favorite thing about this school is the track surrounding the school field. I usually walk the track with my friends, and it’s a lot of fun talking with them. I especially recommend walking the track at sunset. I also like to play basketball and soccer. What is your hobby? And also I love sharing my music playlist with my friends and adding new songs to mine. Who is your favorite singer and what is your favorite song? For me, I like “Afterglow” by Ed Sheeran the most. I’m a big fan of his.
Anyway, I would really appreciate if you tell me about your school and yourself. Stay safe!!
