Dear American High School Student, Hello my name is Jaewon and it is a big pleasure for me to write you this letter. I am a first grade student in Sangsan High School and 17 years old. I have a big interest in soccer. I love playing soccer and also watching soccer games. I also like watching NBA but still I prefer soccer more. Do you have anything that you are intersted in? I am writing this letter to introduce our school and myself. First of all, our school is one of the biggest high school in Korea. We have two dormitories, cafeteria, library, and huge field which students could make use of. Second, our school has tough schedule. Our daily schedule starts at 6:30 and ends at 11:30. This schedule makes me tired but it also helps me improve my ability of learning and help me achieve my ambition. Lastly, our school is a boarding school. We live in dormitory with 4 other friends in one room. Sometimes we have issues between our roommates but most of the time we maintain good relationship. Next I want to introduce and talk about my self. I used to live in US for about two years. When I lived in Los Angeles, I played various sports including basball, soccer, basketball, and tennis. That must be the reason why I still love playing sports. My another hobby is playing video games. Playing video games with my friends helps me relieve stress from school. And it also helps me improve my leadership. If you have any hobbies that helps you relieve your stress, please recommend it to me. It was fun writing a letter to you. I hope one day we could meet face to face. Thank you for reading my letter so far and have a nice day! Best, Jaewon

Dear Jaewon, Nice to meet you. My name is Dathan Hansen. I am currently 15 but am turning 16 on the 23. I am really looking forward to conversing with you and learning more about you and your school. I have many hobbies and interests as well. I am involved in many sports, clubs, and other groups. My religion is very important to me. I am an avid Christian. I go to church every Sunday and am a part of multiple church groups. Every day before worship I teach 3rd and 4th graders in Sunday School for an hour. This is a fun time where we teach about christ, sing songs, and make crafts with the kids. I also volunteer to sing during worship services and other tasks to make the service run smoothly. Every Wednesday night from 7:30 to 9:00 I go to our high school youth group called FLY’s. There I play games with other high schoolers and then we talk about our faith. I am also part of the high school leadership team (TIM team) where I help to lead FLY’s and volunteer for other church events. What is your religion? Are you a part of any fun groups? I enjoy many sports as well. I participate in high school and club swimming during fall and winter and then I throw shot and discus in the spring. I enjoy competing against others and playing. I am a member of multiple groups in my school including student council, FBLA, quiz bowl, and Spanish club. I enjoy working on projects with other members to help serve my community, build relationships, and learn more about many different subjects. My school is not quite as large as yours, but I still try and reap all the benefits I can from what they have to offer. I always put 100% of my effort into everything I do and I strive to grow academically, personally, and socially as much as I can every day. My normal schedule every day is I wake up at seven and get ready for school. Sometimes I have swim practice at 5 in the morning but not very often. Then I go to school at 8. I have four classes before I go to lunch at 11:40 with my friends. Lunch lasts thirty minutes. Our meals are not as good-looking as yours. I try to use this time to relax and prepare for the last four classes. School gets over at 3:30. I go home and then take a 15-minute drive to a nearby town where I swim for one and a half hours. I get done at 5:30 and then come home. I spend 30 minutes eating before going and working on homework and studying until 10. At ten I either continue working if I need to get something done or I start to get ready for bed. After I am ready I usually read a book for a while before turning off my light and going to sleep. What video games do you play with your friends? I sometimes play video games over the weekend with my brothers and friends and am curious as to what you enjoy. I also enjoy playing board games with family and friends. It is a good way to bond and learn more about each other. I can’t wait to hear more about you and hope that we might one day meet in person. Have a nice day. Sincerely, Dathan
