Dear American High School Students,
Hi, my name is Hyeon Chae. I’m a student of Sangsan High School and I am a freshman, 17
years old. Recently, I became 16 years old in American age after my birthday had passed. I
heard that you guys are also high school students, so I wonder if you are the same age as us.
Anyway, it's amazing that you guys who are living in the U.S. are watching this letter, and the
sooner the letter goes to you, the better, so I hope you guys to see this letter soon!
First, l will tell you about our daily lives just a bit. We have to get up at 6:30 in the morning
and go to school before 7:55. Some students take a shower and eat breakfast and some students
go back to sleep. I used to go back to sleep, but these days, I go to school early to change my
routine. How do you spend your morning?
When I go to school, the first class starts at 8:10 and the class ends at 5:10. We learn some
subjects such as math, English, and Korean. Among these subjects, I prefer math because
solving math problems is fun and I do best at math! After class, we have dinner. Our school
meals are delicious, so I always wait for lunch or dinner time. How's your school meal?
After dinner, we study more for 4 hours approximately, which is called a Yajua(After-school
free practice). There are many students who go to the academy at this time, and I am one of
them. A great number of Korean students go to an academy, and they go to an academy at
After-school time or on weekends. Each student attends different academy, and I attend to
Korean, English, math, and science academies. How about you guys studying?
I’m interested in America a lot. I went there when I was 3rd grade in elementary school, but I
can't remember as well. I want to go to America and learn more about American culture. If I
have a chance to go, I want to go there again. Which place do you recommend in America?
I’m looking forward to your response soon!
Best,
Hyeon Chae
