Dear American Friend,
Hi my name is Chaewon and I’m a first-year student in Sangsan High School. I am 16 years old in American age and 17 in Korean age. I used to live in Seoul, but now I’m here at Jeonju because that’s where my school is. I’m happy to have the chance to write a letter to you
I want to tell you about my daily life at Sangsan High school. I live at the school dormitory, since my school is very far from my home (I miss my mom and dad so I call them almost everyday). I wake up at 6:30am and prepare to go to school. I eat breakfast at the cafeteria and head to school. Our first class starts at 8:10 am. Class starts quite early so I often feel sleepy. My favorite subject is Art, because I love drawing and enjoy learning about the history of art. What is your favorite subject? We have 8 classes everyday, and school ends at 5:10. After, we have 야자(self studying time) which starts at 6:30pm and ends at 9:20pm. Surprisingly, studying doesn’t end even after 야자. We have dormitory-studying time starting at 10pm and ending at 11:20pm. After, we can have some rest, and have to go to bed at 12:00. This routine continues every weekday so it makes me tired, but I can continue on because I have friends at school to be together with! I’m curious about American student’s daily routine. Please tell me about it!
Now I want to tell you about my hobbies. I love listening to music. I prefer k-band music to k-pop. If you are interested in Korean bands, I want to recommend the band ‘Se so neon’. I’m a big fan of them and I especially like the song ‘난춘’ of ‘Se so neon’. I also enjoy listening to pop music. Some of my favorite singers are Troye Sivan and Harry Styles. If you have any singer or song you like, please suggest it to me. Also, I like writing about my daily life, emotions, and thoughts. What hobbies do you have?
