Dear pen pal,
Hello! My name is Yewon Lee, and I'm 17 years old, a Junior. I'm glad to be a pen pal with you! To introduce about me, as I have about just a bit more than 1 year to take the university entrance examination, I'm spending almost all of my time preparing for it.
But even though we are busy studying, we can't give up on our high school dreams! Right now, what I'm most looking forward to is the school festival, which is called Kailai festival in our school. Kailai festival is held on the next day of the university enterance examination. Students enjoy the festival with a unique concept of that year, such as high-teen, awards ceremony, and Korean tradition clothes 'hanbok'. Last year's concept was about the late 19th century of Korea, so we wore clothes like that season's fashion and fell in the mood. Because the concept is revealed as the festival apporaches, I am so curious about what this year's concept will be. Waiting for the festival-which is about a month and a week left-, I will tell you some more about last year's school festival!
In the morning, we went to school at normal time, and moved to the auditorium to watch some performances of students. The festival started with shows of school orchestra and taekwondo club, and talented students danced and sang as a solo or group. And the highlight was science teachers' surprise duet stage! There wasn't any notice about the teachers' performance, so surprised students cheered hotly. After all performances, it was time for lunch. In lunch time, club market was held; school clubs and private booths sold delicious foods. Me and my friends opened a food booth too. Amazingly, we sold all of the prepared foods during half of the given time! I know, our food was soooo delicious. So we are looking forward to opening a booth this year again, and we will prepare bunch of foods this time!
In the afternoon, the performances were held until like 9 p.m. Before dinner, we had 'masked singer' competition and e-sports competition. We could watch one of them that we want. I watched masked singer competition, in which students sings with their faces hidden in big masks. In masked singer competition, two students compete in a round, and the losing student takes off the mask. It was spread from a famous Korean TV program. There were so many students who sang well. I was glad that a student who I voted for won the first place. She had so beautiful voice, and I found that she was in same grade with me after she took off the mask. After the dinner time, tired students can go back to the dorm, and others can watch more performance. I stayed in auditorium, and watched stages of school dance club and several band clubs. Many students enjoyed the performance until last. The last team was a band named 'exit', and they sold their own album in club market time and made it sold out! As such, the reaction of the students in the audience was enthusiastic. They all stood near by the stage at the end, and enjoyed the performance until the night.
This festival became a big energy to me last year. I think even if high school life is tired with worry and stress about studying, it's a good time to make great memories! I also wonder how are your school life and your school's festival. I hope you enjoyed my letter, and look forward to reading your story. Bye bye!
Sincerely, Yewon Lee
