Dear Duchence Academy of the Sacred Heart,
My name is Minseo and I am a freshman at Sangsan High School. I am 16 years old! Today, I want you tell you about my life as a student in South Korea.
My school is located in Jeonju, Korea, and my house is located about 3 hours away from Jeonju, so I live in a dormitory. Since I had no experience of living alone away from home, at first, it was awkward for me to stay in the dormitory and hard to adapt, but now I'm doing well adjusting to the dormitory life with my friends. I'm not sure if you live in a dormitory or not, but if not, I'd like to suggest you to live in a dormitory!
Next, I will tell you about my daily routine. I wake up at 6:30 a.m. every day, and after getting ready for about 30 minutes. I eat breakfast with my friends and go to school. After arriving at the school, I have a personal study time in the morning for about 30 minutes, then the subject class begins in 8:10. Our school curriculum starts at 8:10 and ends at 5:10. Each class is 50 minutes and consists of 8 classes. At the end of the classes, I eat dinner with my friends, I study for three hours, which is known as “self-study after school(야자)”. After three hours of study in the school, I come back to dormitory and study for one more hour, which is called “self-study at dormitory(기숙사자습).” Finally, I go to bed at 12 o'clock. These routines are very hard and exhausting, but I am always trying to live hard for my future.
One of my favorite things in my school is school meals. Our school runs a school cafeteria called Our Home, and the foods are high-key delicious. Among them, the most anticipated and exciting day is Grilled Pork Belly a.k.a.Samgyeopsal party once a semester, and on this day, I can eat various foods with Grilled Pork Belly, such as ramen, with my friends, and eat Grilled Pork Belly as much as I want.
The following is my favorites. There is only one thing I enjoy in this busy life: listening to music. It may sound a bit boring, but if you study or spend time freely listening to songs, especially my favorite, k-pop songs, you can have a relaxing and free leisure time. In fact, I am a big fan of SEVENTEEN and SHINee. If you have a chance, I recommend you to take a rest while listening to music.
Lastly, now I have about 25 days until the midterm exam, and I hope this period ends soon. Of course, it is so hard to prepare for the exam but because, after the exam, the best thing comes - I can go home. I want to go home and have a good time with my family. I look forward to reading your response soon, and bye!!
Sincerely, Minseo
