Dear American High school student,
Hello! My name is Hayun and I live in South Korea. I am first grade in Sangsan High School so I was born in 2006.
I heard you are studying about cultures of various countries. So I hope this letter can help you understand about culture of South Korea especially in high school.
Sangsan High school is located in Jeonju. My home is located in Geongido so I live in dormitory with my friends. I usually woke up at 6:30 by alarm which is from our dormitory. We can ask for alarm music that we want. Today the music for the alarm was 'strawberry moon' from IU! After the alarm I am in hurry because I meet my friend to go to school at 7 am. I wear my school uniform and walk to cafeteria for breakfast. I'm not really satisfied with our school's breakfast menu but I just eat...
My morning time at dorm and school is really busy, how about you?
Then I go to my school. To introduce about our school, our school is really big. There are about 7 buildings including dormitories. Some buildings are connected so I can go to convenient store which is in our school walking through the hallways. Also, our school is located on a high hill so my legs are tired of mounting that high hill! However, I am proud of the view from our school and I think the location of the school contributes to this wonderful view. The view is the best when the sun sets. It is when we start evening self-study after having supper. (I'll share a photo of it)
These days a lot of students come to school early because we are studying hard for the test. We take 4 tests a year from our school and take 3 to 4 tests from the office of education. Usually we take tests for 7 subjects or 9 subjects. I wonder about American school students taking tests. Also, my favorite subject is science but last term, social study score was the best. I want to know what is your favorite subject and some interesting thing about it.
The most important thing to Korean high school students is studying which is related to the test. Including me, most students make use of tablets to study. I suggest you to use it for studying because it is really convenient. Additionally, I am even using tablet now to write this letter! By using tablet, our backpack become lighter and it is hard to lose our worksheets because they are saved in our tablet. Also, in break time we play with tablets by taking pictures so storage space of my gallery is running out!
Because of too many tests many friends feel stressful. I release this stress by listening to K-pop music especially IU because I am a big fan of IU. I wonder you know about IU who is a woman singer. She is very famous in South Korea. Recently, I went to her concert which was really fascinating. There are various videos about her in Youtube and she also works as an actress. So I recommend you to listen some music from IU and can you recommend some singers you like or your own tips for releasing stress.
These are my recent school life in Sangsan high school! I am satisfied with my school life so everyday I am excited to experience new things, meet and talk with friends and enjoy fun events! Also, I'm excited to read your response too!
