Dear American High School Student,
My name is Kim Junyeoung and I’m a first-year student at Sangsan High School. I am 15 years old. My classmates often call me “Pobby” which is a character that represents polar bear because I look like a polar bear. This picture is Pobby! Do you have any similar animals with you?
I want to tell you about my daily life as a student in South Korea. I live at my school dormitory with 3 students. I usually wake up at 6:00 in the dormitory. Once I’m up, I take a shower and wear school uniform. Then, the morning call rings at 6:30. At that time, I eat some breakfast and go to school. Our first class starts at 8:10 and period 8 ends at 5:10. When do you go to school? When do your school classes ends?
After the classes, students usually do self-study in school. In Korean, It is called 야자. A great number of students study really hard at that time. After self-study time in school, students have to do additional study at the dormitory in school. After all of this processes are done, students go back to the dormitory and get ready to sleep. Does your school have some time to do self-study?
My school life may seem totally filled up with study, but I actually get some rest and enjoy my hobby. While I’m solving math problems, I usually listen to my favorite songs. I’m a big fan of Maroon 5. The best song I’ve recently hears is ‘beautiful mistake’ by Maroon 5. Recently, Adam Levine is involved in an affair. So I feel disappointed at him but the songs are still good. Who is your favorite singer?
There are 20 days left before the midterm exam, so I’m studying hard for get a good grade. For me, I was prefer cramming but it makes my grade worse. So I changed my way of preparing exam recently. I high-key want to finish this exam because I’ll go to the school trip after the exam. When do your school start the exam? What do you think the biggest difference between Korean high school and yours? Are they there any Asian students in your school?
I’ll look forward to meet you at the New York, Queens!
Sincerely,
Junyeoung
