Hi! American High School Student, My name is Daye Kim and I am a student at Sangsan High School. I am 16 years old. Do you know MBTI? A great number of students in Korea do the MBTI test and share their type of characters. My MBTI is ISTP. I am a little quiet and prefer sleeping. What is your MBTI? And I want to know another tests like MBTI American students do. I want to tell you about our school! Our school is a special high school, so all students are high-key good at grade. (But I’m not.. maybe?) And we have a lot of breed carps(they are treasures of the chairman of the board). Often, raccoons appear at school. There is a rumor that if you see a raccoon, you will go to Seoul National University (sadly, I can’t see raccon yet). Last year, a wild boar appeared on the school playground! The reason that animals appeared at Sangsan High School is the school is lacated in the mountain. So, I go hiking when I go to school. How about visiting our school? I am a big fan of K-drama. Do you know Squid Game? It is a story about people who participated in a mysterious survival program with a prize of 45.6 billion won risking their lives to become the final winner. Do you have a favorite K-drama? Have you ever been to Korea? Jeonju, where I live in Korea, is famous for Bibimbap and Hanok Village! If you visit Korea later, make sure to visit Jeonju! Actually, I have never been to America. I really want to go to America. Can you introduce me to America? I am looking forward to reading your letter! And if I can meet you someday, I really want to! Best, Daye Kim

Dear Daye Kim,
Hi! Sorry, I took so long to respond. My name is Alexis Ochsner and I am a 9th grader at Duchesne Academy. I am 14 years old. I didn’t know what the MBTI test was until you told me. I took it for myself and got ENTJ. Is that good? I am pretty outgoing but I also love sleeping as well.
Most students in America takes Buzzfeed quizzes, they aren’t accurate but they are very funny. Your school sounds pretty intense compared to mine! I get up for school at 7:00 am and go to school until 3:00. One thing that is different is that I have to move classrooms for all my classes. After that I go to ballet or soccer from 4:00 to 9:00 and then come home and do homework until 10:00. Then I go to sleep which is probably my favorite part of the day. Do you have any hobbies or sports you like doing? We don’t have crazy animals in our school other than bats. I was actually born in Colorado which is in the Rocky Mountains, so I would love to be able to go on hikes before school.
Squid Games is a very popular show in America and I love it! But its also probably one of the only K-dramas I have watched. I enjoy watching Star Wars and other Disney shows. Do you have Disney in Korea?
I have never been to Korea but it is on my bucket list for places to go! I think that the culture and architecture there is so beautiful. I live in Nebraska which is in the very middle of America. It is very boring because it is mostly where farmers grow their corn. I would recommend visiting Denver, Colorado or Florida if you ever visit. It would be amazing if I could meet you someday and show you my favorite places around America! Would you like to continue being pen pals?
Also what are your favorite subjects in school? I don’t like my algebra teacher very much. But my favorite class in literature! I would say my hardest class is definitely biology though. I am sure your classes are harder than mine though.
I hope that we can stay in touch! It would be so so cool if I could meet you someday! Have a good day!
Best, Alexis Ochsner

Dear Alexis Ochsner, Thank you for your letter. I was surprised that you took the MBTI test when you saw my pen pal! I personally like ENTJ! So I think it’s good. And I took Buzzfeed quizzes that you told me. Like you said, it was very fun! I’m going to talk about school life that I didn’t talk about last time. I get up for school at 6:30 am becuase I have to go to school by 7:50. And my school schedule ends at 5:10. After school, I have dinner at school. Then I study late at school from 6:30 to 9:20. (This is the daily life of Korean students..) When my school schedule is completely over, I go to a study cafe and study. And I go home at 12:00 am and go to bed. Sadly, I don’t have time for hobbies because I’m so busy. But I have a favorite activity. I like to ride a skateboard in my spare time! I’m glad you like the Squid Games! There is Disney in Korea, too. Many people like it! And I like to continue being pen pals with you! If you have any questions about Korea, ask me. My favorite subjects are math and science. And actually, I am not good at English.. so difficult.. Recently, we read a play titled “The Three Most Important Things in Life” in English class. I think my family is the most important thing in life. What do you think is most important? When you come to Korea I recommend you eat Pork belly. It’s very delicious. So Korean people love it! And something I’m curious about American is what think American about Korea. Thank you! I think we will be good friend! Best, Daye Kim
