 Dear American High School Student, My name is Sunyou and I am a first-year student at Sangsan High School. I am 16 years old! My nickname is kind oil. Because Koreans use Chinese characters to name their names, and the Chinese characters that sound similar to mine mean good oil. Originally, it meant to have a kind and generous heart. What do you think my nickname is? This is my first pen pal. (If you see something wrong, please consider it cute.) So I am having so much fun writing this letter now. I want to tell you a bit about my funny life as a student in Sangsan High School. I live at my school in a dormitory on campus with a good friend. My family lives in Hwaseong. It takes about 3 hours by car from school to home, but my parents pick me up every week. So I don't miss home  Now I will share with you my daily life here at Sangsan High School. I usually wake up at 5:45 in the dormitory (morning call rings at 6:30, but I hurt my leg now, so I have to get up early and get ready so that I am not late for school.) We have to go to school by 7:55. Then I take 4 classes and have lunch. My favorite time in school is lunch time. Because our school meals are various and delicious everyday. After lunch, I take another 4 classes. Then I eat dinner and come back to school and start studying.(If I live like this, I get sleepy when I study in the evening, so I sleep a little.) If I come back to the dorm by 10 o'clock, I start studying again. Actually, I prefer to study at this time. These days, I feel how short the traffic light time is. I'm carrying crutches because I hurt my leg, but there's no elevator, so I make use of the stairs to go to another classroom. What do you think of this situation? I hope our school has an elevator soon. The sooner the elevator is installed, the better. And I'm a student council! I work especially on school festivals. The name of our school festival is Kaylie. Now I'm making paper money for Kylie. (This is a very important thing. I have to make it according to the concept of the day. What do you think of your school festival? And I'm into variety running man these days!!!! In fact, from a long time ago... How long ago I was 6 years old. It's been a long time, right? If you want to see a Korean variety show, I recommend this variety.(It's really fun when the members talk. And the game they play is really funny. I feel really happy whenever I see this variety.) When I first heard from my English teacher that I had to write a pen pal, I was really embarrassed. But I think it's so much fun writing it. If I have a chance, I want to use a pen pal again in the future!!! Thank you for reading the long story. I look forward to your answer. Hi Sunyou! My name is Nae. I am also a first year student and im 14 tuning 15 next month. I
go to an all girls school called Duchesne Academy. I think your nickname is so adorable! Nae is
my nickname and growing up my family all called me Nae-Nae and some still do but my main
nickname my family calls me is little lion. I know it is very unusual but it’s because I am African
American so I have light brown skin like a lion and really big hair. I was actually born with a full
head of hair long enough to braid! This is also my first pen pal so I was a little nervous but
mostly excited.
Your school sounds like a lot of work but also fun. To be honest I wish we had dorms (I still
love my school though). Since you told me about your average school day is it's only polite if I
tell you how mine is 🤭. I usually wake up around 5:45 to 6:00 and get ready (I go to school
early sadly). Then I get to school around 7 and just wait for class to start. At 8:45 the bell rings
and we go to class. We have block scheduling so we have 4 different classes each day. On
Monday we have all classes and on Tuesday we have mass which is when we go pray to god
and sing. After we go to lunch for around 20 minutes then go back to class. At 3:30 the bell rings
and most people go home but I swim from 5-7 then I go home and watch my many siblings. Do
you have any siblings?
I also totally understand you about how short the time is, especially because you do so much!
I’m sorry you hurt your leg and I hope it gets better soon <3. I can’t believe you have to use the
stairs. Usually here if you hurt your leg you can use the elevator but if you’re not hurt you’re not
allowed to use it. Oh, and we don’t have school festivals. We have dances every once in a while
and we have parties but no festivals. I play tennis and do track and field, basketball, and swim.
Do you play any sports outside of school? Also I'll definitely check out a variety show you
recommend! I can’t believe you were embarrassed to write to me. You seem so sweet, and I
also had fun writing to you. I hope to hear from you soon!

To answer your questions, I have an older brother who is 2 years older than me and a younger brother who is 4 years younger than me. and I don't do any other sports outside of school. Because on weekdays, after school, I have to go back to the dormitory right away, and on the weekends I am busy with homework. so I think you are so amazing that you work hard.
I also have a question for you, can I ask you a question? What do you think is most important? The most important thing in my life is my family and my happiness. I'm curious about your long hair too. My hair is medium length, not to the waist. I recommend that you go to Everland if you come to Korea.

I am so sorry for the late reply Sunyou! I have been so busy because of school and our finals are coming up so everyone is very nervous. Thank you for answering my question so now I can answer yours. I think my family and my sport are the most important. Honestly I have no idea how I would survive without them! I cut my hair really short and dyed it orange but I still have a lot of hair 😭. It goes to my shoulders and when I stretch it it reaches my mid back. Also I’ll be sure to visit Everland and email you when I do. I would love to recommend some music to you though. I suggest that you lister to In My Feelings by Kehlani and Good Days by Sza. Those are two of my favorite artists. Before I say my goodbyes for this letter I was wondering if you had social media so we can keep in contact outside of school?
