Dear Somebody who is in an American Highschool
Hi, my name is Kim Do Hyun. I am 17 years old. My nickname is Cocoon (It doesn't mean the thing which bug made. It means a famous Korean lyricist). I attend Sangsan High School, a non-public high school in Jeonju. My school is one of the best high schools in Korea. Also, the school scenery is fantastic. It is one of the top 100 places in Korea. My intuition tells me that you would like this place too. I stay at school all day since the dormitory is inside the school. I wake up at 6:30 in the morning, go to school by 8 o'clock, take classes for 8 hours, study for 3 hours, return to the dormitory, study for one more hour, and sleep at midnight. Of course, there are meals in between.
<--That's cocoon
But I also do hobbies during school break times and on weekends. I like to read books and board games, but I usually read books because it is prohibited to bring board games into the dormitory. My favorite genres are sci-fi and fantasy, but I haven't read books written in the original language because I'm not good at English. If I have a chance, I want to try it. The original version and the translation version are very different. (Have you ever read Foundation and Temeraire? I suggest these books a lot. These are the best books I've ever seen). Also, I like listening to music, especially pop songs. I am a big fan of Claire Rosinkranz, Christopher, Charlie Puth, Ed Sheeran, and Harry Styles. I guess I like almost pop singers. Oh, right. I am going to Christopher's concert in Korea this November! It's my first time going to a show like this. I'm so waiting.
Since Korea and America have very different cultures, so I want to know about American schools and student life. I feel like they're only in a book to me. Students in my school tend not to have many private lessons or tutorial because they study all day long, but my friends who live in Seoul takes two to three private lessons a day. Even spend all day at private lessons on weekends. But in movies and books, there's not a lot of description about American students going to academies. So I wonder if you don't go to private lessons or tutorials. And what your daily schedule is.
Oh, right. It Comes to mind. Do you have that many parties? Something like graduation parties or Halloween. There aren't many in Korea, so it's sad:(
If you want to know anything about Korea, don't hesitate. Just ask me. I can help you.
